Identifying the Enemy in the Midst of Battle

When moving into or  in the midst of a battle, do we take the needed “time out” to identify who our enemy is?  Do we question  who we are really battling against?

First, we need to be able to answer the question…Who is our enemy?

The Bible tells us:

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the worldly forces of this darkness, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.”‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6:12‬ ‭TLV‬‬

Do we attribute our enemies as people that appear to be against us, or trying to manipulate and control us?  The scripture clearly identifies what it is not, and it is NOT flesh and blood!  I think that is the hardest idea for me to grasp especially when in the middle of a “struggle.”

The enemy uses conflict to separate and divide.   What does he know about unity that we may not fully understand?  Is there an untapped power and strength in our agreement with others?

I do not want to be in any level of agreement with the enemy or be used by him in any way.   When a situation starts to escalate,  instincts need to be checked  and we need to develop a reliance on Holy Spirit to give us wisdom and knowledge for navigating through.

Secondly, when in the middle of a struggle, we need to take personal ACTION and separate ourself from the struggle for a moment to ask ourselves—What is the enemy trying to accomplish?  In John 10:10 it tells us clearly that the enemy comes to kill, steal and destroy.  He wants to rob you, causing you to lose out and ultimately wants to defeat and kill you.

“Stay alert! Watch out! Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, searching for someone to devour.”
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:8‬ ‭TLV‬‬

We need to realize Ha satan is absent of love for anyone except himself.  He has no love for those in his camp, and uses those for one purpose, for whatever purposes is best for him.  Can we stop and think how the person we are struggling with is being used by him to create conflict, strife and pain?

Thirdly, after identifying  him and knowing what he is trying to accomplish we can take authority over the situation in the name of Jesus and through the power of Holy Spirit.

“Therefore submit to God. But resist the devil and he will flee from you.”
Jacob (James)‬ ‭4:7‬ ‭TLV‬‬

We must be an active participant against him by resisting him, not being in agreement with him which is what he is ultimately trying to manipulate.  He wants to separate and divide us, because he knows the power of when two or more are gathered in Messiahs name.  He wants you to lower yourself to his level, his playing field.  We need to be fully cognizant of his goal and not be deceived.

We are made in G-ds image in His likeness; but suffered such a loss at the fall.  We can only regain what we originally had by accepting Yeshua and His redemptive work!

The enemy is trying to steal from you each and every day.  Although, he can never take from you unless you become a willing participant in laying down for him.

Yeshua paid the ultimate price for you.  He laid down His life and shed his precious blood for you, so that you can be reconciled back to the Father, to be a joint heir with Yeshua, a son and daughter in the family of G-d.

The last part of John 10:10 is the victory, Yeshua came that we can have life, and have it abundantly!

Amen!

Prayer

Father G-d,
Thank you for Messiah Yeshua and the redemptive work He did on the tree. Thank you for Holy Spirit and His indwelling presence that we can have which gives us strength, power and victory to overcome the evil one. I pray that going forward we do well with identifying who we are struggling against and that we remember in the midst of our battles who we need to resist. May our witness be one of reconciliation under the identity of Messiah Yeshua. And the victory be His!
Amen

“Do not be deceived—God is not mocked. For whatever a man sows, that he also shall reap. For the one who sows in the flesh will reap corruption from the flesh. But the one who sows in the Ruach will reap from the Ruach eternal life. So let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we don’t give up. Therefore, whenever we have an opportunity, let us do good toward all—especially those who belong to the household of faith.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:7-10‬ ‭TLV‬‬
