Gotta Serve Somebody

“Gotta serve somebody”

I wonder how many have heard or remember that song back in the day.  I recently looked at the lyrics and see how relevant the song is still today.

What or who do you serve today?

I do not have carved images made from wood, stone or precious metals, but do I have any idols today that I serve?  Any “things” that are taking my attention away from G-d?  Are there any “things” that are taking His place?

That is a question we all need to ask ourselves.

With good intentions, we may think we are serving the L-rd, by attending a weekly service.  But if we think going to a church or house of worship, once a week qualifies us for His service, I think we may be  misdirected.

So who/what are we serving today?

How many follow money?

How many follow music?

How many follow sports?

How many follow creation(animals, nature)?

How many follow man?

How many follow church/social gatherings?

How many follow entertainment?

How many follow business?

How many follow politics/government?

How many follow education?

How many follow family?

How many follow phones, tablets, computers, and media in any form?

Another way to look at it, is where do you spend most of your time?

What do you do with the time you are given in 24 hours, 7 days a week?

Now most of us need to work and need to make a living and we will spend a good amount of our time in that area.

But does it become our god that we serve?

Or is it a way to earn a living?

Does it take us away from G-d or make us thankful that he has ultimately provided for us giving us a way to make a living?

Let’s take a litmus test on where we are today and answer these questions …

Do we love the L-rd G-d with all of our strength, soul and might?

Do we love our neighbor as ourselves?

If we can answer yes to those questions very good!  We are on the right track.

The next question is how do we demonstrate that love?

Do we obey His Word and do what He asks of us?

Or do we do what seems right in our own eyes, not inquiring of Him His plans and purposes?

Most importantly do we desire to spend time with Him each and everyday listening, hearing what He wants to tell us?  What He wants us to accomplish during our time here on Earth.  We all have a purpose(s), we all have a plan(s) for our lives.  Will you embrace that?

If you answer Yes!… let’s determine to be diligent and focus more on His Will be done and less on our will be done and serve Our Father, Our King with our whole heart!

Prayer

Our Father, Our King,
Thank you for your provision for all we ever need. Thank you for your gift of Messiah Yeshua and the gift of salvation that He accomplished for us with His work on the tree. Thank you that we have our Helper, Holy Spirit to guide us, teach us, and remind us of everything Messiah Yeshua spoke. Our desire Father, is to accomplish Your will in our life. Please give us the strength to do everything you ask of us without delay and with our whole heart. Let us be diligent and dedicate time each day to seek Your plans and purposes in Word and prayer seeking Your wisdom and understanding. We love You and demonstrate our love to You by obeying Your Word with a humble heart.
In Messiah Yeshua’s Name,
Amen
