A Different Type of Replacement Theology

John 3:14
“Just as Moses lifted up the serpent in the desert, so the Son of Man must be lifted up, so that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life! “For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.”
‭‭John‬ ‭3:14-16 TLV

Wow this just hit me like a ton of bricks.

Yeshua was telling them plainly what was going to happen! They just needed to know the story of the bronze serpent located in Torah: Numbers 21.

“When the Canaanite king of Arad, who lived in the Negev, heard that Israel was coming along the road to Atharim, he attacked Israel and captured some of them. Then Israel vowed to Adonai and stated, “If you deliver this people into our hand, we will put their cities under the ban of destruction!” Adonai listened to Israel’s plea and delivered up the Canaanites. They put them and their cities under the ban of destruction. So the name of the place was called Hormah. They travelled from Mount Hor along the route to the Sea of Reeds in order to go around the land of Edom. The spirit of the people became impatient along the way. The people spoke against God and Moses: “Why have you brought us from Egypt to die in the wilderness, because there is no bread, no water, and our very spirits detest the despicable food? So Adonai sent poisonous serpents among the people, and they bit the people and many of the people of Israel died. The people came to Moses and said, “We sinned when we spoke against Adonai and you! Pray to Adonai for us, that He may take away the snakes!” So Moses prayed for the people. Adonai said to Moses, “Make yourself a fiery snake and put it on a pole. Whenever anyone who has been bitten will look at it, he will live.” So Moses made a bronze snake and put it on a pole, and it happened that whenever a snake bit anyone and he looked at the bronze snake, he lived.”
‭‭Numbers‬ ‭21:1-9‬ ‭TLV‬‬

Like the bronze serpent in the Old Covenant, our Messiah Yeshua would hang on a tree because of the sins we commit.
For our spiritual healing, we only need to look at Him on the tree and believe!  Just as the children of Israel needed to choose to look at the bronze snake on the stake and believe for their physical healing in the desert.

Messiah Yeshua replaced the serpent on the stake.
Messiah Yeshua replaced what the serpent of old had started in the garden.
Messiah Yeshua in essence replaced the serpent.
Messiah Yeshua made restitution for the rebellion that the old original serpent instigated which ultimately deceived the man and woman into joining sides with him.

Our Messiah Yeshua became  sin when He hung on the tree.  He became the substitution for our sin.   The only thing that hasn’t been done for us is to choose in the way in which we respond. And there are only two choices:

  1.  “Yes I believe” will heal us and give us eternal life with Him!
  2.  “No, not for me” rejects His provision and will condemn to a very different type of eternal life;  everlasting separation from The Creator to an eternal union with the adversary, “where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

What will your response be?
